Comments on aesthetics

aesthetics, philosophical discipline aimed perceptions, meaning, beauty (in nature or art), tends to define beauty as opposed to the useful (or functional). However, in nature where we all come, beauty is (almost or later) documentation useful and functional!

Since beauty is "the characteristic of a thing through a sensory experience (perception) provides a feeling of pleasure, a feeling of satisfaction or attraction," and that these feelings of pleasure and satisfaction s accompanying physiological reactions that have positive effects on health, beauty has already proved useful. It has also been shown that emotions in their vast majority had the same beneficial effects for health and longevity.

Better yet, the beautiful has a feeling of attraction, ie a seduction.

Scores of scientific studies have attempted to identify the ins and outs of the process of seduction.
In the animal kingdom, it was determined that the odors (pheromones) are used to indicate the availability of females ready to be mated to potential partners may be located more than ten kilometers. The importance of odors is also established, including those made by the immune MHC genes that give each a personal signature scent. According to a test with T-shirts worn by two nights in a row for men, women prefer those with genes and therefore their different smells. In his detailed analysis of animal behavior, biologist Thierry Lode emphasizes the role of the kiss. The exchange of saliva would initiate an exploration of the immune system (MHC) promoting the attractiveness of genetically different partners. The biologist also reveals the role of eccentric characters in the seduction. These exaggerated features, very present in animals such as the peacock's tail, result from an evolutionary trend in the exuberance and these "supernormal stimuli" cause a runaway desire. According to Thierry Lode, This same trend illustrated some artists like Fernando Botero, highlights the elements of identity between beauty, aesthetics and seduction. Finally, according to the same author, seduction, defined from biological characters still puts out the immune system of sexual partners: it is attracted to symmetrical features. Indeed, the fundamental bilateral symmetry of the body is altered by growth accidents often caused by disease, indicating the weakening of the immune system. Preferring sex partners to symmetrical features, the animal chooses a partner with an immune system transmitted to offspring and free from diseases. Other studies (including those conducted by David Buss) show that women place great importance on the financial perspectives of the man and his social status, in other words a comfort for them and their offspring, while men focus on their, age and physical beauty, fertility monitors, so a more descendants and in better health.

All these processes of seduction, attraction by the beautiful and involved in choosing the best partner, then in the evolution of species and therefore in a better adaptation to the environment, assurance of survival.

Beauty is not opposed to the functional, helpful, it is only a manifestation that occurs in the seduction, the survival of the species!

The Cartier Foundation for Contemporary Art will present for the first time the public an exceptional collection of voodoo objects from the collection of Anne and Jacques Kerchache in a layout designed by Enzo Mari, the One of the great masters of Italian industrial design. The exhibition is organized with the complicity of Anne Kerchache - Today Douaoui Ms. Kamal - who was the wife of Jacques Kerchache until his death in 2001.

Kerchache and Jacques Cartier Foundation for Contemporary Art
Artistic adviser and curator, Jacques Kerchache was an ardent supporter of the arts and worked first for their entry in the collections of major French museums. It was at his initiative led to the creation Pavillon des Sessions at the Louvre in 2001 and the Musée du Quai Branly in 2006. Jacques Kerchache also collaborated with the Fondation Cartier in many occasions, firstly on the thematic exhibitions TO FACE (1992) and being kind (1998), but also Personal exposure of Haitian artist Patrick Vilaire, Reflection on Death (1997).

Exposure voodoo
Following these collaborations, Jacques Cartier and the Fondation Kerchache wanted to organize an exhibition dedicated to voodoo statues, but the project was suspended following his death in 2001. So to mark the tenth anniversary of the death of Jacques Kerchache the Cartier Foundation has decided to reveal the fascinating and mysterious world of voodoo that was his passion throughout his life. Through exposure Voodoo, the Cartier Foundation pays tribute to this great expert and explorer famous for his eye and requiring knowledge of primitive art as contemporary art.

Art Voodoo
By the 1960s, Jacques Kerchache has recognized the aesthetic power and originality stunning statuary voodoo and its forms. At this time, during his early travels in the present Republic of Benin, the birthplace of voodoo, he begins to piece together what has become the largest collection of African sculptures, voodoo. The exhibition will present a hundred of these objects, some of which now belong to private collections.

objects of worship

Covered with a thick layer of material made of earth, palm oil and powder, these sculptures exude a strange and unsettling sense of tension and apprehension. Their ambiguous aesthetic is intimately linked to their role is both to protect their owners from danger and harm persons responsible for their problems.

By silent simplicity, exposure, suitable for meditation, let the objects speak impenetrable and reveal the mystery and beauty of statuary convulsive voodoo.

Bettina Rheims, interview

Thanks to the website www.helenarubinstein-lelivre.com I could participate in an interview Bettina Rheims one of my favorite photographers. Here are the questions I asked him:
  1. Seeing your last show "Rose is paris" I liked it, I wondered if eventually your eyes on women not men because they are so desirable.

I think it's precisely because I am a woman and I'm in a relationship of complete trust and intimacy with my models that I manage to get them this incredible sensuality. desire between us, but it is purely photographic: that of an artist for his model. Being a woman has nothing to do with it.

  2. there were photographs that you did not dare to do (I think the series House Close for example)? Do you set limits in your work? if so, why?

I would say that there are more pictures that I have not yet done. The limit is for me not to injure, not to hurt the women I photograph, and they can leave the studio proud of what they have done and also having learned something new may be on themselves.

  3. What are you working on now? What are your future plans?

This year is sort of a transition year. After great adventures like the one I lived with "Rose" (at least two years of work). I need a hand to call the studio on the road, we orders for magazines, advertising, and also time for me that will, hopefully, soon to be born a new project. My work has always been marked by these two different activities, the purely artistic and another applied a little more, sometimes as a craft, but at the end of the day the two often intersect.

Hi Heel With Big Boobs

vs Peter Aerts II

In 2009, for the first time since 17 years, Peter Aerts was not involved in the final of the K1 Grand Prix because of Alistair Overeem, who was eliminated in the Final 16, the last step before the qualifying tournament in December.

This year, for the 17th time in 18 years (since the K1 Grand Prix in 1993), veteran Peter Aerts is among the best. He, who once won the test three times (1994, 1995 and 1998) achieved this feat to beat the new and gigantic (2m12) champion that everyone considered virtually invincible: Semmy Schilt (four-time winner of the race: 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2009). And in the final, he found the young Alistair Overeem, the defector "mixed martial arts", his last year's winner ...

Verdict?

The page Beauty realized by Carine Roitfeld and photographed by Mario Sorrenti in every issue of Vogue I particularly like. These photographs have an artistic dimension close to the surrealist exquisite corpse. They brag about how surprising beauty treatments (often very expensive) of all kinds: plastic surgery (as a transplant eyelashes!), Implants, peeling, lifting, care lasers. Although expensive, we see that some care frankly like to torture. One must suffer to stay beautiful, the test of time remains in most of these beautiful pages to the enemy down.

History of Jujitsu

The ju jujitsu is born in Japan. It was created and transmitted and enriched through the centuries by the Samurai. Then, the ronin have perpetuated this legacy and teaching was then opened to all segments of the population.

The ju-jitsu is an ancient art whose evolution continues today ...

The political history of Japan was long dominated by rivalries between the various uji (clan members).

This encouraged the emergence of a warrior caste, the samurai. They were a minor noble but whose access was strictly closed.

The rank of samurai was indeed inherited. Every son of a samurai, unless exclude himself, embraced the profession of arms. From the Kamakura period (1185-1333) which is the beginning of the feudal era, the samurai dedicated his life to his clan or his master, without seeking benefits, favors or consideration. This is an essential difference with the European knight who tied a contractual relationship with his lord, giving him his sword and certainly fides (fidelity) but in exchange for his protection.

For the samurai, the idea of duty and sacrifice was even more firmly anchored link uniting his lord being of divine origin.

On the battlefield, wearing armor, the samurai fought on horseback and was the only warrior authorized to handle the sword (he wore the long sword and short sword). In his travels he was accompanied by chugen (domestic) and zoshiki (soldiers of lower rank) who followed or preceded by foot.

were considered unworthy of a samurai, all activities not related directly to the practice of arms. Much of their time was therefore devoted to the art of combat. The fencing saber horseback riding, archery (the Japanese equivalent of the word chivalry is kyubi no michi, literally "the way of horse and bow") were part of their training. Over the years, have become lighter armor, samurai also developed techniques of fighting in melee and unarmed. Thus, a samurai could still defend themselves helpless against an opponent equipped with his sword. Ju-Jitsu, literally "the art of flexibility" was born. The various clans of samurai devised techniques secret, jealously guarded.

At the Edo period (1603-1768), Japan is partly pacified and the bakufu (military government) centralized his power. The bushi (warriors) had to leave the country to integrate the fortified cities. By necessity, the samurai were forced to convert and became literate warriors, their functions while moving towards administrative tasks. But many were less fortunate or less able to take this new role. Ruined, they adopted (in exchange for a sum of money) the son of a city, thus making access to the rank of samurai. Some even became craftsmen. At that time, the samurai were less than one tenth of the population Total Japanese archipelago. Their situation was very variable. At the top of the scale, we found the hatamoto, direct vassal of the shogun (shogun's military dictators are, from the twelfth century and into the nineteenth century, ruled Japan). The hatamoto was receiving large sums. But just ashigaru (the lowest grade for a samurai) was a vassal of hatamoto and had to settle for a meager pension. From the early 17 th century, the Tokugawa shogunate abolished or significantly réduirent fiefdoms.

Consequently, damyo (lord) could not keep their armies. Many samurai then found themselves without damyo to serve. By 1650, Japan had some 500,000 ronin, samurai name given to the now unattached and without a master. They were forced to lease their service on time, traveling to Japan in search of a commitment. To survive, many of them, opened schools and taught their students the practice of weapons, strategy and techniques of fighting with bare hands. The first ryu (schools) of Ju-jitsu run by samurai, but open to all, and saw the day. They grew successfully developed more than 700 systems were officially listed, in the late 18 th century. But it was not until the Meiji era (1868-1912) that the various techniques were codified after the samurai have lost the right to wear the sword and duels have been permanently banned. Before founding

judo, Jigoro Kano Master (1860-1938) was an avid practitioner of ju-jitsu (schools tenjin-Shinyo-ryu and Kito-ryu, seguchi-ryu, Seigo-ryu ...). It is from the jujitsu techniques he developed Judo. Same for Morihei Ueshiba (1883-1969) who also studied the styles of ju-jitsu (shinkage Yagyu-Ryu, Daito-ryu ...) before creating aikido. In France, the first demonstrations of ju-jitsu were held in 1900. But the practice of jujitsu remained highly confidential. In 1924, Ishiguro Keishichi conducted demonstrations in Paris. In 1933, it was the turn of Jigoro Kano and Hidechi Nagaoka. But it Mikinosuke Kawaishi (arrived in France in 1935) that really popularized the ju-jitsu. He published books of judo and a method of self-defense. Until the early 50s, practices judo and ju-jitsu were closely linked in the dojo (training place). But with the strides made by judo, ju-jitsu fell into disuse and many techniques deemed dangerous were then abandoned.

OHCs recent years have seen a renewed interest in ju-jitsu, in part due to the success of Brazilian fighters in tournaments free fights. The term "ju-jitsu" is however unsuitable for all techniques used (atemis, projections, dislocations, chokes, etc..) Come directly from the methods of Japanese ju-jitsu, the only originality of Brazilian ju-jitsuka being focus on the phases of ground combat. In the 19th century, the countries of South America, mainly Brazil, suffered waves of Japanese immigration. This are no doubt some of these Japanese immigrants who brought the techniques of ju-jitsu. But Brazil, unlike Europe and the United States, the practice of jujitsu continued to grow and this, along with the development of new Japanese martial arts (judo, aikido, karate). This is without doubt one of the reasons for the present value of Brazilian fighters.

Gallery Jerome de Noirmont sets from tomorrow the work of the photographer Valérie Belin, it's merging a series of female portraits sophisticated style for years 50 to flowers.

Excerpt from press release
In each of the images in this series, Valérie Belin was applied to create an equivalence in the image of women and flowers, working through both the addition of forms and subtraction of information. Women and flowers are thus given equal importance and equal status of pure decoration. This escalation of scenery seems to place the image in a completely formalist aesthetics, the subject is hidden by the effects of style.
Throughout his career, the artist has challenged the boundaries between real and virtual, since Lenses (1993) and Venetian mirrors I and II (1997) until Models (2003 ) Models and Métis (2006), within the general framework of an investigation on the limits of photography. His photographic works have always had a surreal, obtained by optical effects or oversizing of the topic. In his recent series as Lido (2007) or the Crowned Heads (2009), the artist chose subjects with a strong image, a strong power of representation, qualities highlighted in treatment totally dreamlike portrait of grace to new technologies and different depending on the series.

Medicines That Make Polyneuropathy Worse.

Michel Houellebecq a success justified.

Photography Vincent Ferrane published in Telerama No. 3174

Michel Houellebecq, an immense talent recognized belatedly hailed by the Prix Goncourt 2010. Successful critical and commercial success of the public.

In beginning reading map and territory, I had that feeling comfortable to enter a powerful book. Style with long sentences who reminded me that of Sagan for its fluidity, its wry and ironic tone I was immediately enchanted, that's how the book begins:

"Jeff Koons had just risen from his seat, his arms thrown forward in a burst of enthusiasm. Assis in front of him on a white leather sofa partially covered with silk, a little packed on himself, Damien Hirst seemed about to make an objection, and his face was ruddy, gloomy. Both were dressed in costume Black - one of Koons, pinstripe - a white shirt and black tie. Between the two men, on the coffee table was placed a basket of candied fruit which neither one nor the other paid no attention; Hirst drank a Budweiser Light.
Behind them, a bay window opening onto a landscape of tall buildings which formed a gigantic tangle Babylonian polygons, to the ends of the horizon, the night was bright, the air of absolute clarity. It might have been in Qatar or Dubai, the decoration of the room was actually inspired by a publicity photograph, taken from a publication of German luxury, hotel Emirates of Abu Dhabi.
The front of Jeff Koons was slightly shiny; Jed stump to brush, stepped back from three not. There was definitely a problem with Koons. Hirst was essentially easy to grasp: we could do so brutal, cynical, like "I shit on you from the top of my money" could also do rebellious artist (but still rich) continuing work on distressed death, there was finally in his face something of blood and heavy, typically English, which approached the base of a fan of Arsenal. In sum there were different aspects, but that could combine the coherent picture, representable, a typical British artist of his generation. While Koons seemed to bring him something twice as an insurmountable contradiction between the cunning ordinary technical sales and exaltation of the ascetic. It had been three weeks since Jed retouched expression Koons rising from his seat, his arms thrown forward in a burst of enthusiasm as if trying to convince Hirst, it was as difficult as painting a Mormon pornographer ".

Here is a successful entry into the field, after the novel is equally delectable. It surprises third party when the book turns into an investigation. We appreciate the mocking and very accurate description of the art world contemporary critics, his press officers (the Marilyn's character is to die for!) and its merchants. The writer also highlights the surreal side can reach the artworks, to the surprise of the artist who produces them. Jed, contemporary artist and protagonist of the book seems to be the hidden side of a portrait of the author. This is supplemented by Michel Houellebecq himself appears in the book as a writer in the service of the artist. Exchanges between the artist and the writer creates a double gaze fixed on the world interesting. The humor and irony regularly punctuate the book, which to some may make it entertaining (Notably through the passage of baroque and downright funny evening at Jean-Pierre Pernaut). Nevertheless, our analysis Houellebecq company a callous and offers a few exciting future. As usual, the author bother pointing to the symptoms of anxiety consumer society, devoid of beauty and spirituality.

What Happens When You Are In Coma?

Aesthetics

Aesthetics is a philosophical discipline aimed perceptions, meaning, beauty (in nature or art), or that relates exclusively to the concept of art. The aesthetic is thus designated area until the eighteenth century by science or critical fine taste, and since the nineteenth century became the philosophy of art.

Aesthetics refers, for example, the emotions caused by a work of art (or some gestures, attitudes, things), judgments of the work, what is specific or unique to an expression (artistic, literary, poetic, etc..), what might be described as beautiful as opposed to the useful and functional.

Aesthetics is generally within the philosophy of knowledge, science of the sensible, what is the meaning given in intuition or vision, that is to say, in space and time, as opposed to what is the intelligible, the understanding or pure reason, or metaphysics.

In common parlance, the word is synonymous with aesthetic beauty. And as the name, aesthetics is a concept denoting all those characteristics that determine the appearance of something, often synonymous with design or physical aspect of the human body.

The Stages Of Endometriosis

Philippe Pasqua, a palimpsest, a story of repentance, deletions appear. Lawrence Gallery Strouk

I highly recommend the exhibition of the artist Philippe Pasqua, virtuoso designer and artist currently on display at Galerie Laurent Strouk. Warning exposure stops at the end of the week (October 30 I think).
The hanging of the exhibition has already changed 3 times. The great collectors rushed and hundreds of drawings were sold out within weeks. Lawrence told me that Strouk 20-year career he had never known such enthusiasm.
