The first edition of SportAccord World Combat Games (Fighting Games SportAccord), a multi-sport competition world dedicated to martial arts and combat sports, took place from August 28 to September 5, 2010 in Beijing, China. More than 1000 athletes from five continents have participated and 118 gold medals were distributed.
Two nations are particularly distinguished, well ahead of all others
- Russia (1st)
- and China, the host country (2nd).
Yet one might have expected to see others shine as inventors of the 13 sports on the Games:
- Japan through aikido, judo, ju- jitsu, karate, kendo, kick-boxing ("low kick") and sumo;
- Great Britain through the boxing;
- the United States through kickboxing (semi-contact "and" full contact ") and" grappling "(one of two styles of fighting shown);
- Thailand with the muay thai;
- Russia thanks to sambo;
- thanks to Korea Taekwondo
- Greece through the "Pankration" (one of two styles of fighting shown);
- and China thanks to wushu.
Japan is ranked 6th, 7th Thailand, South Korea 18th, Britain 26th, the U.S. 40th and 41st Greece.
managed to climb into the top 8 nations without their own traditional sport program:
- Ukraine (3rd);
- France (4th), who could do even better in the next edition since French boxing savate, only demonstration in 2010, the program will be the next Games in 2013;
- Italy (5th);
- and Spain (8th).
Russia stands out as best combatant nation with 18 golds and a total of 39 medals (1st nation to male competitors).
China, just behind, received 15 gold medals out of a total of 31 medals (1st nation for female competitors).

Russia has the only competitor in these Games to get two gold medals: the colossal Alan Karaev (1m98, 175kg). Also note that the Russians excel in sport mixed (meaning: Technical gripping + percussion), namely: the ju-jitsu, sambo combat and the pankration, not to mention the 5 gold medals in kick-boxing .

Five gold medals in boxing (Olympic sport traditionally dominated by the United States and Cuba) and seven in wushu (national sport)! Thanks to these two sports, China moved up to second place in the overall standings by nation.
