promoters Strikeforce has announced an eight-man tournament in 2011 as the good old days of the Pride Grand Prix or the first Ultimate Fighting Champinships.
Participants ads:
- the heavy weight champion of the Strikeforce (and winner of the K-1 Grand Prix 2010): Alistair Overeem
- Russia's Fedor Emelianenko, the best MMA fighter since the restoration of the sport in 1993
- the only man to have actually beaten: Fabricio Werdum,
- Josh Barnett
- Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva,
- Brett Rogers
- Sergei Kharitonov,
- and Andrei Arlovski.
The pairings for the quarterfinals would be:
- Emelianenko cons "Bigfoot" Silva (originally planned for January 29)
- Werdum cons Kharitonov (However a bout of 2005 at Pride wins decision on Kharitonov shared)
- Barnett vs. Rogers
- and Overeem vs. Arlovski.
